Scholarship Announcement

Believing in the importance of acknowledging the fine accomplishments of high-achieving young people, The Wheeling Corporation is offering financial assistance in the form of college tuition scholarships.  Undergraduate students who plan to attend accredited state colleges, private colleges or universities and who are children of The Wheeling Corporation employees are urged to apply.

The scholarships are designed to provide assistance to those who have shown ability, aptitude and promise of productive citizenship.

Guidelines

For the school year beginning in the fall of 2023, The Wheeling Corporation will award scholarships for financial assistance to undergraduate students who are children of a Wheeling Corporation employee and entering or attending an accredited state college, private college or university of higher learning.

  • A student’s eligibility for a scholarship is based on the student’s intent to seek a degree at an accredited private college, state college or university of his or her choice
  • The recipient of assistance will not be selected on the basis of scholarship alone, but on the basis of all factors which The Wheeling Corporation considers relevant, without regard to race, sex, color, ethnic origin, religious belief, or physical handicap

  • Completed application forms must be received no later than July 1, 2023 (No Exceptions!)
  • Following completion, the application, including all attachments, must be sent directly to:

  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution which the student will be attending
  • The recipient is expected to maintain academic and personal performance consistent with the original award criteria
  • The recipient must be a full time student with no less than twelve (12) credit hours, or its equivalent, per semester/term/quarter
  • The program is designed to assist students with a portion of their cost of education
  • The application requires the following additional information:
    • The applicant’s essay of not more than 500 words on the following topic:
      • Describe what you plan to achieve by continuing your education and explain why you have chosen your field of study.  Tell why receiving a scholarship award is important to you (for new applicants only).
    • An official, certified high school transcript (for new applicants only)
    • An official, certified college transcript (current college students only)
    • A history of applicant’s employment
    • Financial aid worksheet
